SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE // DANCING TILL DAWN, SKINNY-DIPPING, AND KISSING A STRANGER // BOOK REVIEW

Let me just start out saying…I WANT A BESTFRIEND LIKE SLOANE

A lot of you might disagree with this, while some of your are probably thinking to your self, same.  To the people who agree with me, could you possibly tell me where to find someone like Sloane, just kidding (or am I), but let me just begin by talking about how amazing this book was.  Yes, I realize this book did come out about 3 years ago, but this book deserves enough credit to write about it now.  TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVEN’T READ THIS BOOK I STRONGLY SUGGEST READING IT.

I realize that in my last posts I told you guys that I get most of my books through libraries or I try to find cheap ones online, but this is one of my books that I actually bought full priced at Barnes and Nobles, and boy am I happy I did.  I have read this book every summer (well if I am being honest I read it not just in summer but in all seasons) and every time I do, it is still as amazing as the first time.  Before i start getting into this book and my feelings about it… here is the Morgan Matson (the author of the book) description of the book….

It was Sloane who yanked Emily out of her shell and made life 100% interesting. But right before what should have been the most epic summer, Sloane just…disappears. All she leaves behind is a to-do list.

On it, thirteen Sloane-inspired tasks that Emily would normally never try. But what if they could bring her best friend back?

Apple picking at night? Okay, easy enough.

Dance until dawn? Sure. Why not?

Kiss a stranger? Um…

Emily now has this unexpected summer, and the help of Frank Porter (totally unexpected), to check things off Sloane’s list. Who knows what she’ll find?

Go skinny-dipping? Wait…what?

So after reading this overview you are probably thinking HOW DOES EMILY COMPLETE ALL THESE THINGS AND WHY WOULD SLOANE DO THAT TO HER.

Some of you guys are probably extroverts and would be full with excitement over a challenge like this, while other introverts would say to yourselves, “I could probably do some of these things,” while you really know you would do none of them.  Whichever type of person you are, I know that this book will make you want to get a list like this and complete it.  I mean honestly who could pass up breaking something and kissing a stranger, I know I couldn’t!!!

First off, if I had a best friend like Sloane I would never get rid of her.  She has this amazing vintage vibe about her and she is always up for something to do even if it does mean going skinny-dipping, either way she sounds like a really good friend to have around.  The only problem I have about Sloane is WHY WOULD SHE JUST LEAVE EMILY WITH OUT TELLING HER WHY.  I mean its one thing to tell someone you are leaving and will be gone for a while, but it is another to leave and not tell them why or where you are going.  Leaving an introvert like Emily by herself with no other friends, because Sloane is her ony friend, is not the smartest idea.  It’s a good thing for Sloane that it actually ended up going well for Emily.

When Sloane leaves, and Emily meets Dawn and Frank, I knew that these people were going to become friends with Emily.

Lets talk about Dawn for a minute, first off what is the coincidence that Emily would run into her while she is crying and suddenly become best friends with her (pretty unrealistic if u ask me).  I do have to say though that I do love dawn because she is a great person and definitely an important character in the story.

Now on to frank….where do I begin.  Let me just start by saying that Frank and Emily ARE THE CUTEST THINGS EVER!  Frank is so perfect and the way that he treats Emily in the story makes my heart cry out for love.  The first time that Emily rides in his truck with him is one of the cutest moments because Emily is so nervous and awkward, and so is Frank.  To add to that, a guy who has an old truck, is nice and is very attractive, is the complete package. Also Emily and Frank running together is another thing that will make you love them as a couple (by the way the playlist that they listen to is in the book and there are more playlists at the end too!!!!!).  How he volunteers to help out Emily with her list is even sweeter, because Emily didn’t ask him too, but he just wanted to.  All that goes on between them in this book is too long to write about, because if I did the blog would be almost 3 pages long of how much I love them.

The only complaint that I had while reading the book is the author ended the book with the relationship between Frank and Emily starting and never went into it more because the book ended.  Also the whole situation with Sloane was aggravating, because in the end she…..wait not saying, you guys will just have to read for yourselves.  Overall this book had way more positives than it did negatives, and it is definitely one of my top books I have read.

I strongly suggest reading more of her books because I have read almost (key word almost because I am still trying to complete my collection of Morgan Matson books) all of her books and each one has a different story.  The book itself is actually really cheap right now in any store since it came out a few years ago, but if you have not read it yet, you really need to go purchase yourself a copy of it (links to buy it will be at the bottom of this blog).

Tell me what you guys think of the book.  Do you agree with what I said??  Who was your favorite character in the book??  What are your pros and cons on this book??  Would you do the list if you received it??

Feel free to email me or leave a comment at the bottom!!!!!
